Took my young Vizsla Kelce to work with Jack at Hutson Heritage. She has alot of prey drive and couples it with a very nice pace while searching for bird scent. But unfortunately, often as not, she would bust the birds on her own . I might have gotten eventually to this place we are now with Kelce with lots of time and hunting of wild birds. I am confident however that with Jack’s guidance and training with his pidgeons she now has a very beautiful classy point . Will hold steady for long minutes and it came about rather quickly! And yes it already has transferred to the actual hunt for wild birds. Just yesterday in fact she locked up on a covey of huns while I approached from some 60 yards back. She held steady until I flushed the birds. What a sight! Thanks so much to Jack at Hutson Heritage. Kelce is well on her way to becoming my hunting buddy for years to come. Thanks Jack!!

I've known Jack for several years and finally have had a chance to work with him training my latest pup. As a trainer Jack is excellent at seeing where the dog's understanding is at and finding that balance between success and challenge for the dog. He is also a good teacher of people and involves the owner/handler in the training so that you learn along with your dog. Your pup and you will have a great time training with Jack and you'll both be more ready to achieve success in the field.

Weather it is your 1st dog or your 50th dog, a pup or an old dog, Upland pointer, water retriever, or house hound, Hutson Heritage has the knowledge and experience to help better you and your dog’s hunting experience. Before I started training Jack Hutson put on a seminar showing the basics of upland pointing, flushing, retrieving, and obedience. The training was not just informative but a blast to watch as his personal dogs went to work. Nice then Jack has tailored his trainings, instructions, and work shops to my specific needs and wants for my now 6 moth old red fox lab (Bodie). Starting at the basics with obedience Bodie is now working on retrieving and recognizing birds. Each day he continues to grow. The trainings including live bird scenarios, hands on work, and education for myself as a new dog handler, all the while feeling supported rather than “barked” at. There is a mowed grass training area, open upland style field, pond, and some timber area on site to work and train in. Boarding and one on one work with the dog is also offered. I had been looking to find a place to learn and work with my new pup and am glad I found Jack at Hutson Heritage with his easy to understand approach and always willing to help, friendly, attitude.

Over the course of over 50 years, I have trained all of my bird dogs, and I have enjoyed some very good hunting companions. But now there is Cooper, a then 6-month old Golden Retriever when I first gave Jack a call. Cooper clearly had potential to be a great gun dog, but I knew that I needed help with this high-spirited beast: He is fast, strong and very bright. He is also a real handful. After meeting Cooper, Jack agreed to take him in training as his first experience beyond pointers. Jack understood Cooper right from the start, and the results of his efforts have been spectacular. I could not be more pleased. Now at eleven months, and as a result of mostly once per week 1 hour+ sessions with Jack, Cooper reliably comes, sits, heels off leash, casts directionally on command, and blind retrieves on command very, very well. He loves the live bird work. And he adores Jack. Jack and I will continue to work with Cooper to polish and perfect his skills, and later this month, Cooper will enjoy a week with Jack. I can only imagine the results!

Jack is an excellent trainer and even better person. He is one of the unique few that will really analyze what the dog is thinking, meet them at their level, and truly figure out what each individual dog needs. You know those few trainers that just make it look clean and easy? He also knows exactly how far to push a dog to keep them engaged and advance more quickly. I came to Jack after I made a lot of mistakes training my older dog. With Jack’s knowledge, he’s advanced our young pointer in a fraction of the time and with no e collar creating a confident pointer! He is just one of those rare trainers that has the right calm, confident, leadership presence in which the dogs WANT to follow. All while using no e-collar on birds and positive reinforcement.
