This was by far the best choice I've made for my dog. John and the staff are amazing and very accomplished. Short story - I am very thankful I found John Soares. My dog and family are better because of his expert training and guidance. I enthusiastically recommend John. Do yourself and your dog a favor and call John. Long story - I adopted a 5 month herding breed mix female pup (Belgian Malinois, German Shepherd, Australian Cattle Dog). She came in used to being around other dogs and puppies at the rescue, soft and a bit shy, walking easily in heel, no leash pulling, easy to train on basic commands, decent recall, fine or a tad nervous around new dogs, cautious but happy to meet people, and going out to Petco & farmers markets with no problems. My neighbors thought I was an “amazing trainer”. Between 7-8 months her behavior started to change, and then I got her spayed and it got worse. Constant hard pulling on leash (the kind where you have to wrap the leash around your back), lunging and barking at all other dogs, and no longer listening. My neighbors thought I had adopted a “crazy dangerous dog”. When I adopted her, I started looking for training programs and trainers, just in case she became beyond my skills based on her breeds. When I first got her, I was able to do all the beginning training. Then she flipped the switch, and I went from researching “puppy and me” group classes to needing a skilled trainer. I stopped googling “puppy training” and started googling “expert and police dog training”. That’s how I found John Soares K9 Training. I researched John extensively for a week. Then I called John. The first conversation he asked very specific questions and pinpointed her issues. We set up a time to meet and for him to see her in person and in action. He had her behavior figured out and was clear in explaining his program and what she needed. After 4 weeks of Board & Train and 4 in person training sessions, I have a pup that is very different. We continue to practice our training every day at home. It constantly amazes me how 10-15 minutes of training can settle her active brain and burn her energy in a positive way. I recommend John and his staff and have complete confidence in their training and care of my dog, and their ongoing commitment to my dog and to me. John answered all my questions before, during and after training via phone or text. During training I received regular videos of her progress. Frankly I cried happy tears watching the training videos because she was obviously enjoying herself, and her improvement was so obvious and such a relief. I have never left any of my pets with someone else to train and board for weeks. It was hard leaving her. She on the other hand happily went off with one of John’s training team, looked so happy in every update video, and was happy to see John again in our 4 in person training sessions. She continues to love training daily at home. She is also the same happy girl I dropped off, now listening and easier to handle. I know I made the right decision choosing John. I am so happy that what my dog and I needed is what John and his team are experts at achieving. If you and your dog need assistance with training, talk with John and meet him for an evaluation of your dog. Choosing John Soares and his K9 Training Team to work with my dog was the best decision I have made for my sweet pup. I am looking forward to off leash training!
