K9 Role Models

I have a 1 year old dog that I deeply love, but who had some serious reactivity problems. He has bit several people and is unpredictable. I was at the point where It seemed that I had no choice but to pursue euthanasia because no rescue was willing to take him. I made the decision to give him one more chance. I decided to call this company to send my dog to their board and train program. I was thinking of it as doggy boot camp... When Vannessa came to my house to meet Stony and take him to partake in their program, she suggested that we switch gears and do an 8 week in-home training instead. She said he seemed to be a better candidate for that program. I wasn't the best at practicing our training throughout the week if I am honest, but Stony is brilliant and excelled in everything that Vannessa was teaching us. I now have a dog that makes wise decisions when he is in situations that he would normally make bad decisions. He is completely under control and good dog to have around. He'll never love strangers, but I don't have to spend my life worrying that he is going to bite every person who is not me or my family. He is perfectly obedient walking off leash in public. I can take him swimming at busy swimming holes and take him hiking at busy trails. Vanessa saved my dog and I couldn't be more grateful. She operates in a loving way (she loves dogs!) and even had to remind me a few times to be nicer... Whatever I say here can't fully express my gratitude and satisfaction. I highly recommend K9 role models. They are the best.

I own a grooming salon and my Standard Poodle comes to work with me every day. She had bad habits of rushing to the gate every time a customer came in, barking loudly and jumping/nipping. I had gone through 2 other trainers before a mutual client recommended Vannessa. I was so desperate and thought nothing would work at that point. I said this would be my last hope and that if this didn’t work, I would have to find some alternative to bringing her to work with me everyday, probably dog daycare, which is fairly expensive. After lessons with Vannessa, my Poodle is now quiet when clients enter my shop and does not jump at the door/act overly excited. I definitely did not think it was possible to train these behaviors out of her, but with the help of K9 role models, I can now have a much less stressful day at work! Do not let price scare you as I went the cheaper route first and all it did was waste time.

K9 role models has been life changing for our family! We got Harlee, our German Shepherd, during COVID. As one could understand she did not have a lot of exposure as a puppy leading to leash reactivity and aggression around other dogs as she got older. We now feel confident taking her out in public and on our favorite New Hampshire hiking trails. Harlee now has confidence while understanding manners and control with various distractions. It’s obvious Vannessa has a true passion for obedience and training!
