Mattox Dog Training Academy

Our girl Chandler has learned so much from Chance and the Mattox Team. After having a horrible experience with another local trainer and given extreme misinformation I thought we might have been in over our heads. It turns out Chandler needed to know where she fit into the world and the role she plays. Chance helped Chandler gain the confidence she needed to overcome her anxiety and become the family dog we've always wanted. We can now take her on hikes/walks without leash pulling or a leash in general! She's gone to our son's baseball game and taken a nap on a crowd of people! And she LOVES to show us what a good listener she is WITHOUT treats! I would highly recommend training for your pup through Mattox, well worth the investment. P.S. Chance also trained us humans on how best to work with Chandler. We needed it too! 😉

4ish years ago I started my relationship with MDTA. I sent my very anxious, destructive, overly medicated lab mix out to them as a last ditch effort to fix him before making the tough call. 4 months later I brought home a completely transformed dog. He was the same spunky, goofy, love bug but he was now mentally stable and HAPPY! We had 3 absolutely amazing years building our life and going on adventures. I lost him about a year ago I lost him and the outpouring of love and support from my MDTA family helped get me through the rough time. I have now just picked up my 1 yr old Ridgback mix after 10 weeks of training. I would never imagine sending my dog anywhere else and am just as impressed with them this second time around. I have recommended them to anyone and everyone I come across needing help with their dog and I absolutely still will. Once a Mattox Dog ALWAYS a Mattox Dog. Chance, Mary and the entire team are 1000% in it for the dog. They want nothing more than to see you build a happy life with a happy dog. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

I adopted Apollo roughly 6 months before I sent him to Mattox Dog Training Academy. I heard through a friend about her experience and just from 2nd hand I was impressed! I sent Apollo, my German Shepard/Malamute and was worried he would come back a different dog. Boy, was I WRONG. He came back the same happy go lucky boy, just more mature. Chance was awesome with him, they put him on an amazing diet, and Mary talked me through my anxieties and worries about bringing him home. I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to send my fur baby to, and I'm so incredibly happy I sent him and DEFINITELY would recommend them to anybody and everybody!!

We were having a lot of small issues with our adopted dog, Cooper, that we could see were ballooning into larger issues. Food aggression, nail trimming, anxiety, and poor leash behavior were some of the things we were concerned about. We had gone to some great trainers in Seattle but we needed felt we needed training that was more structured, as well as long-term socializing with other dogs. Cooper stayed for 3 months at Mattox Academy and we are very impressed with what we have seen since bringing him home. We feel like we are in control again and instead of our dog always being an issue we had to work around or accommodate, he is just content and calm now! Chance does an amazing job working directly with dogs and with the Mattox method got our Catahoula leopard dog to become a calm and obedient boy. Our favorites new “tricks” so far have been his instant recall (especially from long distances), impeccable leash manners, and holding a “down” for a solid chunk of time when needed. And overall, our dog is just so relaxed and friendly around everyone now it is truly night and day. Last thought: as silly as it sounds, we were slightly worried that our dog would come back with a different personality or something ridiculous like that. But we are happy to report that he is the same enthusiastic and happy dog he was before, with the added bonus of being well-behaved and relaxed in situations where we would have had to put him in his crate.

MDTA is amazing!!! They are so patient and professional! Our German Shepherd was battling anxiety and would not kennel. They trained him to be a very calm obedient dog. He listens to commands, walks on leash well, kennels beautifully, and is now good with other dogs. Chance and Mary have worked a miracle!! The personal touch of photos of our boy throughout training was a plus. They really care for the dogs. I like that money also goes to help veterans receive a service dog.
