More Than Dog Training

Benni is our second Golden Retriever, and when we picked him up from the breeder, we were very confident. After all—we’d done this before. Turns out, Benni had other plans. He quickly taught us that no rules applied to him. His crowning moment? One morning I walked into the dining room to find Benni standing on the dining table, eating my breakfast and drinking my coffee. That was my “okay, we absolutely cannot do this ourselves” moment. Fate stepped in the very same day. While walking Town Lake, I noticed a woman with a perfectly trained puppy. I stopped her on the spot and asked for her secret sauce. Her answer, without hesitation: Caylen. I sat down on a bench, called Caylen immediately, and two days later we met in person. That’s how our journey began. We started with private, in-home sessions, which were fantastic—but it quickly became clear that Benni needed a board-and-train program. Best. Decision. Ever. When we picked Benni up, he was a completely different dog: beautifully trained, walking on a leash like a champ, calm, focused—and most impressively, our 7-year-old daughter was able to confidently handle our 60-pound dog. Fast forward two years, and we’re still working with Caylen. Our goal is for Benni to become a therapy dog one day, and thanks to Caylen’s expertise, patience, and genuine love for dogs, that dream feels absolutely within reach. As an added bonus, Caylen also cares for Benni while we’re on vacation, which is priceless. Knowing he’s with someone who understands him, respects his training, and loves him as much as we do means everything.

Calling More Than Dog Training in request of a 6-week training program was one of the best decisions of my life!! I have a reactive dog and walking her around our neighborhood was nearly impossible before Caylen's help. Now, through my reps with Caylen, I have solid methods to ensure my dog walks with a loose leash and doesn't feel the need to lash out at passing people or dogs. I have a much better understanding of what was going on in my dog's head. I HIGHLY recommend Caylen not only because of the immense knowledge she has to share, but because she is an empathetic person who truly listens to what you want out of each training session. She doesn't talk over you or make you feel silly for asking too many questions. She creates a positive environment where you don't show up embarrassed for help. 10/10 would recommend!!!

My shepherd mix Maz and I had recently moved in with my boyfriend who had 2 cats and we were making slow progress on our own getting all the animals to share the same space when we decided a professional was needed. Caylen was so wonderful and informative with updates and videos while Maz did a board and train. To see how much Maz was able to progress and have more self control around situations and other animals honestly made me tear up. Now we can enjoy not only a more peaceful home but the confidence knowing we can go explore Austin with Maz and the experience won't be frustrating for us all has opened endless possibilities.
