Lisa Lucas has made such a difference in my two-year-old rescue boy. It is very clear that Lisa loves dogs and has an exuberance and passion for helping them become a wonderful part of your family. After our private meeting at my home with Cooper, she was able to give me an initial set of tools that began to instantly transform my thinking and my relationship with Cooper. I’ve always had larger dogs and Cooper is my first small dog (11 lbs). My little dog was not leashed trained and was very untrusting. Once Lisa evaluated Cooper, she provided me with what to do and what not to do tips to help Cooper grow. By the time Cooper had his first group training (head start) lesson with Lisa, he was walking on a leash without pulling as well as he understood sit, down and stay. Lisa has a wonderful ability to help train multiple dogs at different levels in the same setting. During a class of 4-6 dogs, she still finds one on one time with each team, making you and your dog feel valuable. Her positive approach is so effective and rewarding! It was wonderful to watch each dog blossom and succeed at becoming a behaved pup. Lisa is wonderful at explaining their behavior and tendencies, making it easier to grasp the needed skills for both you and your dog to become successful. Lisa’s “Recall” group class is the best. Again, she works with multiple dogs and teaches each dog to come when called even when there are distractions. The transformation of Cooper in this class was amazing. By the end of 5 weeks, Cooper was eager to come when the magic words were given. Recently, we had a large racoon in our backyard early in the morning. When Cooper was let out to do his business, he noted the racoon. I immediately gave him the magic words and Cooper’s attention immediately returned to me and Cooper went back into the house without interaction with the racoon. I’m grateful Lisa’s recall class provided Cooper with the tools to keep him out of harm’s way. Lisa also makes herself available to you outside of class and quickly responds to emails, calls, and texts. Lisa will also provide private evaluations at your home to get a better understanding of home struggles. Cooper and I are still learning today, but Cooper is definitely on a fast track to becoming a well-behaved dog. Lisa offers training classes in both Spokane and in Clayton. I have an older dog and we went to Lisa because he has always been aggressive towards other dogs. Lisa did so wonderful for me and Bastion in training us on the tools that we needed to use in our efforts. He improved so much during the training that I was amazed. He still was not able to be up close to dogs though. He needed more work and more time. A year later with Bastion and I working on things Lisa taught us Bastion has finally made a dog friend! And bonus he wanders around calmly amongst my chickens! Couldn't have done this without you Lisa!

We couldn't be more thankful to Lisa for her amazing way with dogs! We got a new German Shepherd puppy for our family for Christmas and he had major fear aggression issues. He was barking and aggressive with anyone that would come around. The vet had to muzzle him and suggested Northern Tails for dog training. We did not want to have to think about our future with our pup and having to muzzle him any time he had to go to the vet or the groomers, or when we have company over, so we signed up for the Puppy Kindergarten class immediately. Lisa was so great with our pup from the get go, every thing she taught us has shown us tremendous improvement in our puppy's behavior! Even the other pet parents were surprised on our last day of class at how far he had come along. He was able to be around everyone and play with the other puppies without issue. He keeps getting better and better every day and we are signed up for the next class. We will take all of them and can't wait for the next class to begin! Lisa has a wonderful curriculum that involves homework throughout the week along with a guide that reviews the classwork and it is so helpful to have to refer back to. She is so friendly and understanding and she gives attention to each dog equally. We couldn't have found a better trainer. Thanks, Lisa! Looking forward to more! :)

We have had dogs forever and over the last 30 years have met many trainers and taken many different classes. We moved to the Spokane area recently but we had been following Northern Tails on FB for some time. Lisa is the best class instructor we have ever had. She understands dogs better than anyone we have dealt with in the past. Her approach is always gentle and kind and gets great results. She is also great with owners. We highly recommend her classes.
