Northern Tails Dog Training & Intuitive Animal Communication

We are repeat students of Nothern Tails Dog Training for the past five+ years. Lisa's classes and associated written materials focus on producing a shared outcome of success for both dogs and their human companions. Methods used are completely positive and produce visible results for puppies as well as adult dogs. We are consistently amazed at the progress we are able to make and only wish we had found Lisa many many years ago.

I found Lisa after a google search for help once I'd reached an impasse with my 12 month old Jack Russell/heeler/aussie cross. I was not informed I had a JR pup when I bought her and struggled to fit her into my long-time compulsion training system. I'm 60 and have owned and trained dogs my whole life, starting at age 5 I think, lol. This pup was the most difficult challenge I've ever had with any dog and I have retrained for foster groups for years. She was only interested in getting her own way, always. And corrections only made her more frustrated. Kennel-training was a disaster, she howled most of the time. She destroyed all kinds of personal possessions on a regular basis. She dragged me anytime she was on a leash. I had reached a point where I was prepared to end her life rather than live with her behavior permanently or foust her on some unsuspecting innocent adopter. I decided she was in my life for a reason and I needed to step up and find a way to communicate. After researching I found Lisa and was impressed with her work with the prison program which I'd heard of before. I've just finished my second class and look forward to taking her recall class which I'm excited about. Ava is a completely different dog. She loves working for bounty. She loves gambling about a tiny treat or a bonanza treat. She keeps one ear tuned toward what I would like. Maybe not both ears tuned like a good GSD, but she is seriously motivated to figure out what I want and do it. Lisa helped me with alternative options, such as turning and going the other way when we are walking together when Ava is dragging me toward some goal of hers. Go back to the beginning point and start again. Seriously, Ava gets it. Three times in a row and she's not dragging me. She runs to her bed and waits when asked. She has a strong down-stay and does well at stand-stay, something I've never really bothered to teach because dogs struggle with it. Lisa's little forward steps are a fresh alternative to the standard dog training class where everyone heels in a circle ad nauseum and "helpers" come around to correct your dog. Lisa is the most gentlest dog trainer I have ever met! My dogs love her! We love her! She has taught us how to train our dogs to be the best behaved companions. She has helped me overcome dealing with high anxiety with my Heeler/Sheltie mix dog. A Car Chasing intense drive with my Kelpie and relationship boundaries with my aging Chihuahua and my grandchildren. Her positive training has helped us have such a happy home for our sweet dogs and us too! We are so grateful and thankful!
