It is imperative for puppies to receive proper foundation training. This is particularly important during the critical period which occurs from birth to 16 weeks. During this time puppies should be exposed to as much of the world as possible. Although we understand that they are still very immature and not capable of advanced behaviors it is during this time that puppies can be taught how to learn. Once they understand this process, using a marker based system, they can easily learn throughout their life!

Training starts immediately upon arrival for a board and train. Dogs will be taught a marker based system of learning. They will be taken out in the community several days a week and during this time they will be required to be neutral to their environment. Throughout training, we will continue to add in distance, duration and distraction to proof all commands and ensure a calm state of mind. We do not believe in one standard training method for all dogs. We will work with owners to build a program to meet the specific needs of their dog and family. We make ourselves available throughout training to answer any questions and alleviate any concerns. We reached out for our 6year old 96lb Pitt mix who has acl injuries. He was experiencing aggression towards one of our other dogs and he was struggling with impulse control. They were very upfront about what was realistic for our situation because he was older and had injuries. We have children and safety is our top priority.
We did a 3 wk board and train with Jeff.
Jeff was amazing. Pictures, texts and videos everyday. He answered EVERY question I had.
We did a mid point lesson, and a lesson when our boy came home.
The difference this has made for Artie and us is incomprehensible. He doesn’t attack our other dogs, chase the garbage truck, chase the chickens, scare our neighbors, attack the water hose, alll the things that were struggling with. Jeff and Ridgeside K9 We are so thankful for you.

Shonnah was an amazing trainer to work with. I was so nervous to send my anxiety boy, Lucian, to boarding for 3 weeks but Shonnah quickly put my mind at ease. She was fabulous about sending updates daily which included photos and videos. Lucian was a rescue who had very little confidence and was timid of some dogs, people, and his surroundings. By the end of week 3, you could tell his confidence grew astronomically. He is a great leash walker now, knows place and can self soothe and calm down much quicker then previously. He’s also much better about visiting and being in different environments now that his confidence has grown. An added bonus, he made friends with Shonnas Mal which is huge progress considering he was never really interested in other dogs/playing or was timid if they were larger. I HIGHLY recommend Ridgeside K9 for board and train and Shonnah as a trainer. I cannot say thank you enough for all you have done for Lucian and myself.

We had a great experience with trainer, Jillian. She was wonderful and very charismatic with our boy. While off at his three week training our boy needed vet attention- his trainer went above and beyond to help get his issues resolved. She was very communicative as well, we received daily updates, which we really enjoyed since we was gone so long. On his come home day she spent quite some time with us going over tips and tricks to help set us up for success! Highly recommend!
