Ruff Rules

Ruff Rules was absolutely incredible, from the warm and personable intro to the weekly training we had for our new puppy. Sydney was awesome to work with, not only did she do an amazing job training our puppy she made sure that we were comfortable to continue the training post meeting. She even explained the logic behind their theories which was very valuable. Our puppy is thriving because of her! I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to train their dog - from puppy to senior.

Jenna - you rock! Jenna from Ruffrules took two of our unruly babies and returned two angels back to us! Our walks are enjoyable now: the dogs do not pull, no not react to other dogs, do not pick up bad things off of the ground! Both dogs behave as only we would hope for in our dreams, only now - it is our reality! Thank you, Jenna, for all your hard work! We appreciate it more than we can express!

We had the pleasure of working with Eva again for Penny’s board and train (we did puppy lessons with her when our Penny was younger - which were also amazing). We are beyond thrilled with all our girl has learned. Eva kept us updated every step of the way and sent tons of photos and videos daily explaining exactly what she was doing and why she was doing it. I can’t even believe the change in my dog after 2.5 weeks! Penny learned SO much, but I think I learned even more than she did! I’m so excited to keep up the incredible work Eva did with Penny.

We can’t say enough great things about Eva at Ruff Rules! From the very first session, Eva’s expertise, patience, and genuine love for dogs were clear. She took the time to understand our dog’s unique needs and worked with us step by step to build confidence and good habits. Her positive, balanced approach made a huge difference—not only in our dog’s behavior but in our own understanding as owners. I cannot recommend Ruff Rules enough! I adopted my puppy and immediately reached out to Ruff Rules for training. My adoption was somewhat impromptu, so naturally they were booked for most types of training well in advance, but Keely was incredibly helpful and accomodating and we opted to start with some one on one lessons to at least learn & establish basic commands. I'm quite type A and was concerned about wanting to get a solid foundation started immediately so as not to have to undo any bad behaviors later and she understood that and helped work me in where she could. What she said during our first lesson will forever stick with me, "My job is to teach you and provide you the tools to be able to properly & easily communicate with your dog so you guys can have a great relationship." And that's exactly what Ruff Rules did. It became clear in that moment that sure, my dog was the one being told what to do, but I was the one who was actually receiving the trianing. She was thorough in explaining everything up front and properly managing expections. She made it clear from the beginning that if I didn't put in the time at home to practice with DJ (my pup), then just an hour lesson each week wasn't going to create the well behaved dog I wanted; repetition & consistency were mandatory in order to be successful and even just having this spelled out helped me plan out my days accordingly. **It's worth noting, this is where I think the board & train is likely the crème de la crème of dog training. I did my best, but life & work surely got in the way sometimes and so for the sake of time, sometimes I wouldn't do exactly what I knew I should be, aka a bad behaviour was brushed off or ignored. Having Ruff Rules keep your dog full time to establish that solid foundation already for you, knowing that not a single unwanted behaviour is going to slip through the day at any point unmatched.*** It was evident her process was well oiled as each skill taught, created the base for the next skill to build upon. She answered any & all questions and honestly, encouraged them. She was incredibly responsive in between lessons, even on things we hadn't directly gone over or discussed. I can't stress enough how grateful I was to have someone cheer me & help me through the wild puppy phase. Its undeniable she is someone whose goal and focus is on assisting you to create an incredible relationship with your dog, so they can safely live their best life right alongside you living yours. We completed 3 lessons and it was adorable seeing how excited DJ was when he realized where the car was pulling up to. He LOVED the lessons and lets be real, Keely! He learned to sit, down, stay, & the place command. He was still a pup so his attention span was short & thus, long durations weren't expected, but it was wonderful that I already had a pup that people complimented for being so good, that didn't pull on a leash, & that was listening to me. The absolute best part though was that whether in the lessons or at home practicing, our bond kept getting closer and I could really feel it! She was encouraging every step of the way and not only helped with corrections, but also gave praise so I knew our efforts were showing and we were on the right track. She was ultimately the one to say we were doing great & could take a pause on lessons unless I felt differently. She recommended just keeping up with what we established until he was a bit older 6-7 mths and could then do ecollar trianing as she already knew my ultimate goal was off leash life. She was so wonderful that I was nervous to stop the lessons, worrying I'd mess it all up & probably would have paid indefinitely or atleast for quite awhile longer had she not been been honest in saying more lessons weren't necessary right now. I'm grateful I had such a great a resource & someone I could trust. She never once made me feel like her motive was anything other than our success and reaching that as quickly as possible!
