Stand Proud Dog Training

From the moment I brought Charlie home, I knew I was in over my head. He was 5 months old, and had been brought in as a stray. He had zero training, and I had zero confidence or knowledge as to how to properly train him. Austin and Abby have been tremendously patient, and so awesome with us! They are SO knowledgeable, and they explain the why's as to what we are doing. In the short time we have been working with them, the difference is already night and day! He was recently approved for daycare, and he went for the first time last week. Aleana was so sweet, and when I picked him up, she showed me video of him playing! My heart just swelled, I was SO happy for him! We had done some meet and greets, so I probably should not have been surprised that he did so great! Danielle and Debbie are also just absolutley amazing and helpful working with me for scheduling, and answering any questions I have (also, very patient with me :)! Words really cannot describe how happy I am to have found Stand Proud! I could go on and on, but just one more thing. Leading up to starting training, I was trying to get Charlie used to being in the the car. He HATED it. I had to carry him out to the car, and the entire time he would shake uncontrollably. There was no soothing him. Then we went to our first class. The experience was SO positive for him that ever since, when I say let's go for a ride... he LEAPS on to the couch to get his seatbelt vest on, and BOUNDS out to the car! ❤ We can go to the park, we can run little car errands, we can go visit friends, and he just loves it all now! am SO confident that with continued training and exposure to the Stand Proud Team, Charlie is going to be my little rockstar BFF!! :)

We have two pit/german mix rescue pups. They are large powerful dogs and mainly friendly but one of them was severely abused at prior households. After two years they got in two fights with the second one being quite severe. We needed some professional help at that point. We heard of Stand Proud through a friend, called them up and got an eval scheduled. They did an hour of evaluation for free prior to accepting or training request. They wanted to make sure they could help before charging us any money. Our pups spent two weeks there at a board and train program and the progress was unreal! When we picked them up they showed up behaviors to watch out for to cut off aggression before it builds, ways to reward, and ways to correct. They followed up frequently and came to our actual home (not a short drive) as well as lessons at the dog park. We are absolutely thrilled with their training and approach. Our walks are now relaxing for my wife and me, their behavior with house guests is phenomenal, and they continue to improve. Cannot recommend these trainers enough!

I am not exaggerating when I say I researched every trainer and kennel in California and even in Colorado as well as we are going to be moving there in a few weeks. I participated in 5 zoom calls with board and train facilities and I even reached out to various people who had left google or Facebook reviews to see how their dogs were doing now and to see if they would still recommend Stand Proud and every single person I spoke to had nothing but great things to say, so let me save you the time and energy I already spent vetting- it’s Stand Proud… pick them! I have grown up with dogs and foster rescues on a regular basis, so when I started considering professional training for our 10ish month old Aussie mix I felt like a total failure. I had watched all the YouTube videos, I was on all the blogs, I read all the books, I was working with her several times a day, and still she was reactive, pulled like a sled dog on the leash, and had difficulty controlling her impulses. She is wicked smart and picked up commands quickly, but our day to day life felt anxious and unless she was in her crate it was difficult to find peace in the house. We really wanted to be able to bring her on trips and to breweries and whatnot with us but found that rather stressful for everyone involved. Brandon gave us options, and we ultimately opted for the 4 week board and train so she could get her off leash skills honed in as well. It was incredibly difficult dropping her off and spending 4 weeks without her, but I truly felt that she was in great hands the entire time. When we initially dropped her off with Abby, I thought to myself - yes this is absolutely the kind of thoughtful and caring human who I want to leave my dog with. Every time I texted Danielle she never missed a beat in keeping me updated and sending me photos. When I went and picked her up I could see that she was still the happy goofy girl I left but her listening skills… chefs kiss! Her whole aura now feels calmer, more confident, and less anxious, and has made our bond even stronger. Please don’t drop your dog off at a board and train thinking the work stops there, that is just unrealistic and if a facility tells you they can do that they are flat out lying- you have to put the work in after the fact, but Stand Proud made it so that we have such a strong foundation that I LOVE putting the work in! Going on walks is a dream. Taking her out to breweries and restaurants I feel so proud to have such a well behaved dog, and she is even walking the trails off leash with me. If I ever have a question in regards to her behavior or training Stand Proud is just a call or text away and that kind of support is invaluable. We have met with Ian for both an in-home and public training session and we LOVE working with him and seeing him work with Brinley. His non-judgmental and realistic approach to training is really refreshing and you can tell he makes a serious effort to get to know your dog inside and out so that he can tailor his training approach. Yes, it is a huge financial investment, but for us it meant being able to take our girl out to eat with us, camping, hiking, to friends houses- for her to really live her life with us. Definitely worth it!

Training my dog with Stand Proud Dog Training is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I adopted a puppy from the Humane Society while I was in my final year at UNR and I assumed he would be just as easy as my childhood dogs were — this ended up not being the case. As a puppy, Shiloh, my dog, was an extremely outgoing and friendly puppy. However as he grew up, he started to become very reactive towards other people and dogs. It was starting to become extremely burdening taking him out to potty at my apartment complex, people would say he was extremely aggressive and that he needed training and even threatened to put in a complaint to put him down. Not only that, but he also started resource guarding and it was honestly getting quite scary because I had no idea how to control him. As a college student who is super frugal with money, I knew that I had to choose the right training facility and trust them with everything I had and let me tell you, I do not regret spending the money I spent at all. Shiloh is my baby and I am always so constantly impressed with how much he's improved and that I have a better understanding how to handle him! He's a dog who had severe anxiety and low self confidence and since training he has seemed so much happier and confident. Brandon, my trainer, has been extremely kind and so understanding and patient with Shiloh's training. I can now take Shiloh to coffee shops without worrying that he'll bark at people or other dogs, I can take him to doggy stores, I enjoy taking him on walks now (it was always so stressful taking him out pre-training) and I am overall so happy and so relieved to be working with Stand Proud! I now attend their group classes where Shiloh gets exposed to other dogs + distractions and he has progressed immensely with being around other dogs. I am so forever grateful to Stand Proud and if anyone has a reactive dog, an anxious dog, a dog that's hard to handle period, I would 100% recommend Stand Proud.

We did a four week board and train for our German Shepherd and it was life changing for our family! We loved our dog but she was a reactive menace with major boundary problems, and we desperately needed help turning it around (homegirl was standing on our dining table and eating entire sandals, it was bad). Her time with Stand Proud was transformative, their facilities and team are incredible and the combination of the two produced a whole new life for our dog. It’s hard to send your dog away for a month, but it was a little easier knowing she was somewhere that was clean and so well set up for her and run by people that not only knew what they were doing but cared about her. Every trainer that worked with her was knowledgeable and treated her like their own. Since she’s come home we’ve done several at-home follow up lessons and sent her to their daycare and we only have good things to say about her treatment/experience!
