Strutt Your Mutt

Let me begin by saying that all of our pups have been rescue dogs. I was a principal and my husband a Special Education teacher. We would bring our dogs to work with our students because we were able to train them on our own to be well balanced and responsive to our requests. We recently rescued our first dog who was aggressive and unresponsive to typical dog training techniques. Something was clearly out of balance. Why we didn't know other than the fact that he was rehomed 5 or more times at 10 months of age. We contacted Erika the third day that he was with us. Our initial conversation and evaluation with Erika was so beneficial and hopeful. The one thing about Erika is her ability to communicate. She sees the best in her clients and their dogs. We had a high prey puppy who needed to be better balanced with a pack and prey drive. We decided to board and train for 2 weeks, confident that she would rehabilitate our sweet boy. I was amazed with the comprehensive training and daily communication through texts and daily videos of her training with Jake. After the first week we went to her house and trained. We were in disbelief when we saw him. At the end of the second week she brought him to our house with 2 leashes, place boards, an ecollar and 6 hours of in depth training and conversation. We were coached and trained and ready to move forward with our balanced puppy. We spent 2 weeks in a structured training routine and were able to then incorporate little Jake into our family. It's miraculous! We really thought this was a dog we couldn't help now he's ours forever. If there are people who speak negatively about Strutt Your Mutt it's because they did not commit to the work that needed to be done once they left Erika. I learned so much from her knowledge and coaching. I highly recommend her services to anyone. You will love her availability for questions and her fun personality. She truly is a dog whisperer.

Before I met Erika at Strutt your Mutt, my labradoodle, Cosmo, was a stubborn, nervous wreck. I had been to several trainers in Grand Junction who were ok at “puppy training”, but did not help me with his fear issues. Erika taught me how to instill confidence in Cosmo and help him want to respond to my commands. I know the term “dog whisperer” is over used, but Erika truly has a special connection with dogs. After one session with Erika, Cosmo was healing and listening to me. Don’t hesitate to call her if you want a better mannered best friend. And if your dog has fear or anxiety issues, RUN to your phone and call her. You won’t be sorry. I have also worked with her other trainers and they are excellent. I’m happy to say that I don’t have a problem dog anymore.
