Strutt Your Mutt

Strutt your Mutt has been my only choice for dog training for more than 6 years. I have had 3 mastiffs complete Erika’s training and it has saved me many behavior issues. Erika, Leah, and Hilary are highly trained and they understand the language of dogs; which is critical to helping owners communicate effectively with their pets. If you are willing to put in the work and dedicate yourself to having the best dog possible, then Strutt your Mutt will give you the tools to make that a reality. Leah and Erika at Strutt your Mutt did an outstanding job training my very high energy Aussie and me. He jumped six foot fences, barked crazily at other dogs and was uncontrollable on a leash before I contacted Strutt your Mutt. Leah came to my home for several training sessions followed by Erika with a board and trail and follow ups at my home. They were compassionate and willing to get to know my dog to develop effective training for us. Almost a year later and he is a well behaved and still athletic and happy dog. We can enjoy the back yard without fear that he will jump the fence and he walks nicely on a leash even when other dogs approach. We will be lifelong adventure buddies thanks to Strutt your Mutt. Strutt your Mutt is amazing! We've sent our two boxers to board and train here (one was a very headstrong puppy at the time), and they did such a fabulous job. What I like most about their techniques is that they aren't just focused on obedience training. They take a more holistic approach with your dog (and you the owner) to ensure that your dog is balanced and well-mannered in all areas of life. You know you've found a good trainer when you drive up to the property and don't hear any dogs barking! We continue to use their boarding services, and will also reach out for additional training advice if/when any new issues come up. We are so thankful for the relationship we've built with Erika and her fellow staff. Hands down, the best dog trainers we've ever worked with.

My boyfriend and I adopted a shelter pup who was a little less than a year old (some combination of terrier and Aussie and maybe border collie). When he came to us, he was generally well-behaved but could easily begin jumping and nipping and being "mouthy" with us with little response to commands or "ignoring" him and generally seemed to have limitless energy. We enrolled him in the 2 week board and train with Strutt Your Mutt and received a dog who was even better behaved and walked calmly on a leash. Although he was still a work in progress, we stuck with the methods we were instructed in and our dog was easily taking 1-2 miles walks with excellent behavior. We've continued with our consultations and I can proudly say that although we aren't at 100% yet, he behaves excellently off-leash on hikes and is very responsive. We were fortunate to get a smart, relatively easy dog, but without guidance from Strutt Your Mutt, we would not get to hike with our dog and have a good time. There are certainly many theories of dog training out there and I'm sure each have their merits, but I am extremely pleased with Strutt Your Mutt and the trainers we've worked with. We have been able to create a strong bond with our dog who is not only a companion and family member, but also a loyal pet who is much happier and less anxious with the structure we've been able to provide from our training. I highly recommend using Strutt Your Mutt for dog training for all situations, but particularly if you hope to get your dog out on the hiking and biking trails.
