The Dog Wizard Lake Norman was built to help families who need more than basic obedience. Our Board & Train Jumpstart programs give dogs focused, immersive structure, while puppy jumpstarts, day training, and in-home lessons support dogs at every stage. We don’t just train dogs, we teach owners how to keep progress consistent at home. Graduates return for pack walks, continued support, and trusted boarding that includes training refreshers. We sent them to training school with Melanie. What a difference! They sit by the front door until we tell them to come, they do not run across the street, can walk without a leash and do not fuss when they are in their crate. What an amazing difference!
They love the Perrys' who take care of them when we are out of town!

We sent our dog Moose to board and train last year with Melanie. She left as your typical stubborn bloodhound and came home as a dog with manners and listens when we ask her to do something. We have also noticed that she's taught our other dog a few things that she learned while away.

We learned of Melanie and the Dog Wizard in 2021 when I was eight months pregnant, there had just been an incident with our 3 year old pup snapping at my husband. With a baby on the way, we were desperate to get our dog some help with possession and leash aggression. My husband’s manager at the time told us about Melanie and how her training changed her family’s life. We reached out to Melanie and she understood the urgency of the matter. She was willing to take Sophie in for training right away. I ended up going into labor while Sophie was in training and Melanie offered to keep her an additional week so we could settle in with the baby before bringing our pup home. The training gave Sophie the tools she needed to improve in those areas and we are so thankful. To help the pups keep the tools they learned, it is very important for the owners to follow the instructions Melanie provides and do their homework to ensure consistency. With a new baby, we weren’t the best at that but we still have tools we use with Sophie today.
Today, we use The Dog Wizard for boarding any time we go out of town as they are the only ones we trust with our pups ♥️
